Daniel Stern Gives His Menus Seasonal Updates

Daniel Stern, the chef-owner behind University City’s MidAtlantic and Center City’s sky-high R2L, has a lot be excited about. John Mariani recently sang the praises of the rabbit taquitos with jalapeño mousse that Stern serves at R2L in Esquire’s November issue, where it tops the list of “Restaurants You Don’t Want to Miss.” And this week R2L gets a menu upgrade. Some new dishes being introduced include lobster paella, with grilled shellfish, evergreen basmati rice and saffron broth, rack and shoulder of lamb, and a pecan financier dessert, with poached pears, sweet potato and red verjus ice cream. Over at his MidAtlantic, Stern is gearing up for that restaurant’s one-year anniversary with $1 draught beers with the purchase of any entrée, and a new fall menu items that include rotisserie meats and the much hyped mushroom meatloaf.
