Breuckelen Introduces Cobble Hill to the $16 Lunch Burger

Breuckelen, the new seasonal-local-yadayada restaurant in Cobble Hill’s former Café on Clinton space, started serving lunch this week, including a burger topped with aged Cheddar and smoked cipollini marmalade, and a cauliflower soup spiced with ras el hanout. At $16, that burger’s not cheap — but it’s also not available at dinner, which makes it one of the more interesting menu items in a fancy-burger-bereft neighborhood. (Henry Public doesn’t open till the sun sets, except on Saturdays). Chef-owner Andrew Karasz, who honed his cooking chops at Eleven Madison Park and Django, is serving up meals “as locally sourced as possible,” including herbs from the boxes in the mini-patio out behind the restaurant. Those “got beat up in that hailstorm,” Karasz reports, remarking that he plans to expand to a roof garden for the spring. The lunch menu, after the jump.
