Last we caught up with Avalon’s John Brandt-Lee, the chef behind West Chester’s well-received rustic Italian BYOB, he was questioning the intrinsic worth of restaurant week-like promotions. Like many chefs, he’s opted to run his own prix fixe specials all year ‘round, rather than participating in West Chester’s weeklong restaurant promotion. With the launch of his new fall menus this week, Brandt-Lee will continue offering customers his $35 four-course “menu tour” on weeknights ($40 on weekends) and other dining deals. The new menu features Chicken Liver Mousse, with red onion marmalade and grilled bread, Red Wine Slab Bacon, with tomato jam, blue cheese and romaine, Short Rib Ravioli, with red wine and veal demi sauce, and Saffron Cioppino, with mussels, shrimp and white fish.
