At Long Last, Grub Opens Friday, Featuring Late Night Grub

Praise Jesus, after three long years papered over, Grub (758 Valencia) is finally supposed to open this Friday, October 22. What’s the story? Well, they have a website (albeit a poorly laid out one), they’ll be doing the aforementioned mac-and-cheese and burger bars, and as Urban Daddy reports, they’ll be serving until 1 a.m. The late-night thing is a welcome trend in San Francisco, where it can be near impossible to get a non-burrito meal past 10 p.m., so we wish them well. Among the fancy sounding toppings available for said mac-and-cheese are lobster, grilled steak, and truffle oil — but we’ll warn you right now that lobster sitting too long under a heat lamp is no great prize. Anyhow, we’ve cried wolf before where this place is concerned (in May, in July, and again in July), so we’re not holding our breath. But maybe, just maybe, this little dream will see the light of day as planned.
