Guy Trebay devoted a big column in the Times this week to San Francisco’s rag-tag sense of style, in particular the “Holly Golightlys” about town like vintage-stylish Tartine waitress Rachel Corrie and Bar Jules chef Jessica Boncutter, who “fly down Valencia Street on Vespas, their wildly improvised get-ups composed of, say, rags scavenged from the Bay Area’s fabled thrift shops.” Also, he makes note of that stretch of 18th between Guerrero and Dolores where many such ladies hang, referring to it as “a kind of foodie Vatican.”
