Get ready for the invasion of the Sunbelt restaurants! In early 2011 two new places will be opening in River North at 111 W. Illinois St., and as the Stew rightly points out, both are coming by way of Arizona. That’s never exactly what you want to hear. Of the two, Roka Akor actually has some decent press behind it. Bon Appetit called it the number five sushi restaurant in the country last year, which sounds awesome. But Bon Appetit also said this: “This glitzy global mega-restaurant brand hopes to do for sushi and robatayaki (grilled food) what Benihana did for teppanyaki (griddled food).” Oh boy.
The much more affordable Bombay Spice Grill & Wine, on the other hand, claims to be an Indian restaurant with a “unique twist: healthy, delicious dishes for an affordable price, in a contemporary dining environment.” Kind of sounds like Chutney Joes, no?
