Pret A Manger is planning to open its very first Chicago outlet tomorrow at 7 a.m in the Loop. For those who are unfamiliar with the British chain, it sells sandwiches which are usually packaged into triangular boxes ready for quick picking. We admit it sounds like one of the more boring concepts known to man, and especially ridiculous when you consider the great number of sandwich places that make each one to order. But Pret has a legion of fervent followers, and we’re among that group.
We fell in love with the chain in England and in New York. To be sure, all the sandwiches are made in the store, and they are a little more complex and expensive than your normal pre-wrapped sandwich.
You can swing by the location today and stand in line for a chance to score a voucher to get a free sample. But the manager told us this morning that the vouchers will run out soon. Either way, tomorrow is the official opening. Though the location won’t have all of these items at once, take at a look at the full menu to get a sense of what you’ll be in for.
