When we showed you renderings of François Payard Bakery earlier this summer, we promised a lot: macarons, savory sandwiches on fresh-baked bread, a sexy glassed-in pastry kitchen so guests could watch their pain au chocolat and cookies come out of the ovens just minutes before hitting the bakery case. With tomorrow’s opening of the south Village spot, it’s all a reality. There are also rolled cakes, chocolates, jars of preserves, spreads, pastry-scented candles, and — our favorite — chocolate sauce bottled in squeezable, shampoo-esque plastic bottles. The twenty-seat bakery will be open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, Friday and Saturday until 11 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. until 6. Check out the space — and the pastries — in our slideshow.
