Mission: Blue Fig (990 Valencia) swung open its doors this week, and the early Yelp reactions are extra-exclamatory!! It looks like they’re only open for breakfast, brunch, and lunch at this point, with the Reuben and waffles getting many !!!s [Grub Street]
Hayes Valley: Fatted Calf opens their Hayes Valley shop (320 Fell Street) on Thursday, offering up a selection of lovely charcuterie (including new items like sbriciolona and sopressata), local products like Andante and Cowgirl Creamery cheeses, bollito misto sandwiches with pork, meatloaf sandwiches, and eventually, beer and wine. Marina: A16 reopens after a brief remodel on Tuesday, September 28, with an evening celebrating the wines of Puglia, Italy, featuring Francesco Domani, manager of the Tormaresca winery owned by the Antinori family, and featured on 60 Minutes in 2008. [Grub Street]

Emeryville: Trader Vic’s, which reopens after a remodel on Tuesday, September 28, is introducing a flight of three Mai Tais, called a Mai Tai Wave, which includes guava, mango, and pineapple mai tais. We don’t think this qualifies as authentically Tiki. [Grub Street]
Oakland: Pican has a new menu for their outdoor patio, out there on Broadway, euphemistically called The Porch. [via Scoop]
