Surprisingly, August has turned out to be just as big a month for openings as June — we think because everyone who wanted to open in the spring got delayed until June, and everyone who wanted to open in June got delayed until August — and thus we see another under-the-radar opening via Thrillist today for a new Creole pop-up inside El Rincon (2700 16th Street): Marcel’s Kitchen. The Marcel in question is former Gary Danko and Jardinière lineman Marcel Neal, who’s been operating the Marcel’s on Wheels truck for a while now.
The new stationary venture inside this Mission music venue features Neal’s “upscale Creole” cooking, including his well regarded fried chicken and a Louisian hamburger with crispy onions, applewood-smoked bacon, cheddar, and Louisiana hot sauce on brioche. See the full menu below.
