Two nineteen-year-old wannabe oilmen were arrested after trying to steal cooking grease from a Santa Monica Carls Jr., intending to resell it as bio-diesel. This is the second area incident in a crime that one SMPD sergeant says is “becoming a bigger business.” The bust came after former City Council member Kelly Olsen heard suspicious noises behind his house at the restaurant, taking an elbow to the chest while trying to make a citizen’s arrest and pursuing the thieving grease balls in his car.
