Tacos + Kosher = Takosher

L.A. has yet to run out of eclectic edibles to stuff into our tortillas and now joining Taco Town’s cultural mish-mash is Takosher, the nation’s first certified glatt kosher taco truck. Owner Lowell Bernstein is an L.A. native who spent a four-year stint in Mexico City, but has long had trouble eating the nation’s food due to his kosher diet, pushing him to start his own place. Referring to his signature creations as “The Chosen Taco,” Bernstein’s ingredients must be preservative-free, natural, and meticulously kept to extremely high ethical and sanitary standards. What results is a taco made with slow-cooked brisket and sauerkraut from a family recipe, as well as a “latketaco” with three different panko-breaded potatoes mixed with chipotle and topped with jalapeno apple chutney, among the other recipes that Bernstein will keep adding to. Already the truck is announcing early runs on Twitter, with plans to officially launch on September 12th.
