Early word just arrived on what’s to come at the Santa Monica space once occupied by Chez Mimi. Right now there are fall plans to open Villetta, a Southern Italian restaurant under chef Pippa Calland, formerly of New York’s Li Madri and Poetessa. The decor will recall a “country Italian” feel, says a restaurant rep, with two different houses for dinner and a bar scene hugged by wrought iron gates and a courtyard. Meanwhile, Antonio DeCicco, who managed the front-of-the-house at Toscana, will represent the restaurant as a partner and maitre d’. Stay glued to Grub for more information as it emerges.
Villetta, 246 26th St. Santa Monica.
