Remember Papa’s Place, which promised to tug on the heartstrings of Los Feliz? Owner Cengiz Karachua lets Grub Street know that it’s nearly opening time, with a grand-opening planned for this Saturday from 12:00 to 6:00 P.M. in its red brick space neighboring Yuca’s. Announced back in late-May, Karachua, a designer who once owned Unique Deli in Upland, plans German and Turkish-influenced food with the promised comfort of “Mama’s cooking” in the former home of his father’s Golden Needle Tailoring, with a small patio space and cuisine centered around take-out.
