As if it was deaf to the rise and visible demise of Pinkberry’s ambitions, Menchie’s continues an aggressive expansion of its frozen yogurt chain. The next L.A. location looks ready-to-drop at Ocean Park Courtyard, coming to the former home of Mrs. Winston’s Green Grocery in the same strip mall that houses The Counter. Like that burger chain, Menchie’s hook rests in ceding control to the customer, with self-serve fro-yo that gets priced by its weight, meaning you can put all 40 toppings on your cookies-and-cream yogurt as long as you’ve got the loot.
