Last week Grub Street mentioned that former child actor Butch Patrick - perhaps better known as Eddie Munster - has grown fond of Victory Brewing Co.’s craft beers and the pizza served at its brewpub in Downingtown. It seems that the Munsters star isn’t the only fan of Victory; the brewery has expanded its fermentation capacity by 33 percent and expects to sell upwards of 60,000 barrels of beer this year (that’s 11,000 more barrels than 2009), Chester County’s Daily Local reports. Last week the brewery began installing eight 440-barrel fermenters, which will increase its capacity considerably and help it meet the growing demand for its beers. While the economy sags and consumer confidence continues sinking, craft beer sales are strong. Colorado’s Brewers Association reports that the craft brew industry grew by 7.2 percent last year, while overall domestic beer sales slipped by 2.2 percent. Perhaps Victory is showing us that drowning our financial sorrows in a river of beer could wash us into an economic recovery.
