James Beard and Cedd Moses Join L.A.’s New Tasting Season

Los Angeles suddenly finds itself confronted with a belly-busting tasting season, as yet another well-known institution and another popular local set up food events in September. Similar to the sudden bloom of imports like Capital Grille, Richard Sandoval, Okiba, Scarpetta, and an armload of other entities plunking down for L.A.’s discounted retail space, fall tasting events have proliferated this year. September happenings were recently introduced by Food & Wine as well as our own Los Angeles Times and chef Suzanne Goin. Now The James Beard Foundation and Cedd Moses are trodding onto the turf once ruled exclusively by Wolfgang Puck’s AWFF. What’s in store?

Squid Ink announces that the James Beard Foundation’s Celebrity Chef Tour is coming to L.A. on Tuesday, September 28th at 7:00 P.M. Held at the Huntley Hotel’s Penthouse, chefs including Hosea Rosenberg, CJ Jacobson, and Craft’s Shannon Swindle will help recreate the vibe of a dinner party at The James Beard House in New York and raise funds for the foundation’s programs and education efforts. Guests will cavort and canoodle with the chefs (and possibly indulge in Beard’s once beloved past-time of gossiping) over multiple courses of food and drink for the $150 ticket price. Visit the event website for tickets.

As for Moses, he’s setting up a beer crawl that stretches through his Downtown haunts, to be followed by a VIP reception with Jonathan Gold. The event goes all day, with craft beer curation from The Beer Chicks, Christina Perozzi and Hallie Beaune. Eater tells us VIP tickets are $89 and general admission $49. Should get you loaded enough to hit AWFF, held the same night on September 25th, in very good spirits. Or it might make you miss it entirely. Tickets are online.
