Feasting at Frog Burger Is Perhaps Worth an Early Death

Steve Poses “was a key player in the city’s Rocky-era restaurant renaissance.” Then he closed down his beloved Frog and Commissary to focus on his catering business and various side projects, and his name disappeared from the headlines. But lest Steve be remembered only by his much-loved Frog Commissary cookbook, the chef introduced Frog Burger to the Philly food scene. It’s not a full-fledged restaurant, just an offshoot of the dining facilities at the Franklin Institute, which Steve’s company run. But Philly Weekly thinks the burgers at the simple stand are delicious enough to justify the fact that they “should be on the American Heart Association’s version of the FBI’s Most Wanted list, or at least in an entry on the blog This Is Why You’re Fat.” Take the Love Burger: a beef patty sandwiched between two grilled cheese sandwiches. Pepper-onion-tomato relish, grilled jalapeños, and pickled red onion help cut the fat. There’s also chunky gazpacho, a fine crab roll, and local beers. Frog Burger will only be around until September or October, so get your burger on now. [Philadelphia Weekly]
