There’s been plenty of scorn poured on PLCB’s wine vending kiosks, the blow-as-you-go dispensers that the state-run liquor control board began implementing in supermarkets back in June. Despite the consensus that the devices are silly, wasteful and only prolongs the longevity of the all-powerful booze overlord’s reign on the land, out in Pennsyltucky, where PLCB has been conducting a pilot program, they’ve proven to be profitable and popular. In this clip, the BBC’s Jack Izzard calls out the PLCB for its “tightly controlled” alcohol sales and describes the experience of using the kiosks as a series of hoops customers have to jump through to buy a bottle of wine.
