Coffee shops don’t usually get this much advance buzz, unless they happen to have a Delorean in the room. But what sets CityGrounds apart is its size. It has a first floor coffee bar, a second floor cafe area with seating for 50, and a an outdoor patio. It’ll be housed in a “Spanish-style building complete with red brick, clay roof tiles with balcony and a functioning clock tower.” Beat that Starbucks! It plans to serve Metropolis Coffee using “Lincoln Park’s first” Kees van der Westen Mirage Duette espresso machine. What is this contraption, you may ask? Well, according to the website, it does make coffee and it costs a lot of money. This temple to caffeine plans to open in early October, and you can follow along with the progress on its Facebook page.
