Brickhouse Kitchen Flies A Sign of the Times

Venice’s all-day breakfast and BLT-destination Brickhouse Kitchen has caught up with the Abbot-Kinney sheen, as well as the times, by installing new signage. The old sign, depicting what could have been Rosie the Riverter’s waitress granddaughter on top of a yellow, orange, and blue checkerboard background, was indeed unbecoming and rather Eighties. So now what?

In its place is a small, pizza-shaped shield depicting well…more red bricks. One would think a painting of red bricks on an actual red brick restaurant would somehow clash, but it actually lends the place a more sophisticated look that suggests wood-fired pizza that you won’t be finding inside. Will it’s new ‘do help bring in some scratch from those who can’t deal with the wait at Joe’s, Hal’s, or Three Square? Possibly, though we’d suggest waiting it out on AK if you seek anything near the same mighty, mighty quality come brunch time.
