To Market To Market?

Boston Public Market Back to Bidding

Whoops: looks like the Boston Public Market isn’t quite the slam dunk it seemed to be last week. Though Deval Patrick promised $10 million to the nonprofit Boston Public Market Association to develop the market, the market is now set to go back to the bidding process, reports the Herald. You see, it turns out that the BPMA was organized by Massachusetts Economic Development Secretary Greg Bialecki and that former economic chief Dan O’Connell was once the nonprofit’s director. Though the Patrick administration says that neither Bialecki nor O’Connell was involved in the decision to award the Boston Public Market to the BPMA, the Department of Transportation says “it will not be a no-bid contract.”
