Bicycle + Gogi Slow Cook Korean ‘Cue in KTown

A new Korean barbecue concept called Bicycle + Gogi has taken root at Western and 12th in KTown. An ad in this week’s L.A. Weekly (no, not one of the ones in the back) announces a grand-opening, while three enthusiastic Yelp reviews show a prolonged, if very quiet, soft-opening in spring. The hook here is slow-cooked meats, with the restaurant playing hard to get by only serving “until the meat runs out.” The owners guarantee this to be a new view of Korean ‘cue, with oak-smoked pork belly, spare ribs, herb-brined chicken, home-made sausages, and baby back ribs all sharing infusions of Korean marinades. A liquor license is currently pending, with hopes to team the meat with a selection of soju, makoli, draft beer, and wine. Check out the menus online. And, yes, they have a taco!
