There’s plenty of bad sushi in West L.A. hiding under catchy names. But taking over the Santa Monica Blvd. home of stalwart Terried Sake comes a new eatery called “B.A.D. Sushi.” The acronym stands for “best and delicious” and while it probably won’t be the former, it better be the latter before its name becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. What’s the early analysis?

Print-outs on the window (not found at Urasawa) depict beautiful rolls with crazy names like the “bloody friend,” The Playboy, pork chop, and “cute devil” rolls, with most coming in around $12. In a possible b.a.d. sign, there’s a “cappacio [sic]” section along with appetizers from terriyaki to tempura. 50% off sushi offers are another indicator that Terried won’t be easily replaced, no less with California Roll Factory already perverting Japanese cuisine on this block.
