Luca Giorgetti soft-opened Fresh Bites yesterday on Sunset. His sequel to Basic Bites in Beverly Hills, the large, stylish cafe space (by Rivera/Angelini Osteria designer Osvaldo Maiozzi) harmoniously balances Italian furniture with shrubs, bamboo panels, and light organic woods, with an open kitchen that makes everything to order before dishes are placed on a conveyor belt to the dining room. A quick-service, healthy Mediterranean menu by Il Fornaio and Pane e Vino chef Claudio Marchesan includes seven salads and small antipasti plates, plus pasta and clever, thin-crust pizzas, with choices also available in gluten-free and multi-grain, as well as caprese and “alpha veggie” sandwiches, and grill options of skewers from salmon and chicken sausage to tofu. Pastries are crafted in-house by Bouley and Mercer Kitchen-vet Rebecca West and Fresh Bites serves an avalanche of coffee options using Italian blends made specifically for the restaurant.
