Despite the stray location and strange name, Waterloo & City has fast turned into one of L.A.’s hottest spots within two months of opening, no less after Jonathan Gold and Sherry Irene Virbila both went ga-ga for its Cal-British cuisine and Pimm’s Cuppery in the past two weeks. Tonight, the demand could double when the restaurant introduces happy hour and late-night bar menus. From 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., a “pubtails” menu features small plates of duck country pate, tuna tartare, Morrocan-spiced lamb pizza, and charcuterie that Virbila rather lazily dubbed “the real thing,” all backed by said ‘tails like the Pom Collins and “The Westside” for six bucks. And what’s on this late-night “twilight” menu?
Sorry friends, not Taylor Lautner’s abs…yet, though these dudes don’t exactly get squeamish around body parts. Served every night for two hours, starting at 10:00 P.M. on school nights and 11:00 P.M. weekends, expect rabbit and pistachio terrine, charcuterie of coppa, prosciutto, and salami, and beef short rib pizza, among an expanded selection of the happy hour small plates.
