Using the headline “The World’s Weirdest Ice Cream,” this Sunday’s Times Magazine features a lengthy profile piece on buzz-drunk Mission ice cream haven Humphry Slocombe and its “socially awkward” proprietor Jake Godby. One choice quote: “Godby insists that if Alice Waters could name her Berkeley restaurant, Chez Panisse, after a highbrow French film, he could name his ice cream store after a lowbrow British farce.” (The shop, as you may know, is named for characters Mr. Humphries and Mrs. Slocombe from Are You Being Served?)
