Drink Up at the Speakeasy Throwback with a Bathtub Filled with Booze

Honestly, we don’t understand how Phillip Foss keeps coming up with these ideas. On Thursday, August 5, the Lockwood chef is spearheading a “Speakeasy Throwback,” which is a “summit of local spirit producers and Chicago chefs.” There will be live music, food and cocktail pairings, and…wait for it…a “grand bathtub filled to the brim with spirits.” Participating chefs include Stephanie Izard, Mike Sheerin, Koren Grieveson, Ryan Poli, and Curtis Duffy, among many others. Also, a host of the area’s best spirit producers will be mixing up cocktails all night. The event costs $95, and if it doesn’t already sound like the greatest thing ever, then you may also appreciate that all the proceeds will go to the Paramount Room’s beverage manager Shawn Koch, who is dealing with brain cancer. Where: The Empire Room at the Palmer House

Why: To benefit the Shawn Koch Foundation.
