The 312 Dining Diva reports that Sono Wood Fired and Urban Burger Bar will open next week. The two restaurants will sit next to each other on Clybourn Avenue, just south of North Avenue, and will be operated by Good Eats Restaurant Group, which is owned by John McLean. Urban Burger Bar was rumored to open last fall, but has been delayed for more than a year. We haven’t heard much about Sono Wood Fired until now. But looking back into the Chicago Magazine archives, we dug up an interview of McLean from 2008 talking about wanting to start an artisanal pizza place and a burger joint. Looks like he’ll have his happy ending in about a week.
Sono Wood Fired will feature 14-16 “hand-crafted wood-fire oven pizzas,” plus “antipasti, salads, pastas, & bruschettas.” Urban Burger Bar will serve something called a “stacked burger,” which the restaurant claims is “stacked with flavor, texture and juicy goodness.” The Dining Diva seems to think they’ll feature “grass-fed beef, house-ground chicken, turkey, pork and tuna.” We shall see.
