Paloma Mexican Haute Cuisine, the venerable French-Mexican restaurant formerly of the Northeast, is eyeing a July 15 opening at its new location at the corner of Eighth and Catherine Sts. in South Philly, according to Chef-owner Adán Saavedra’s Facebook posts. In its latest incarnation it will be a BYOB, and occupy the space that formerly housed a number of restaurants over the years, including Nam Phuong, Paxia and Mezza Luna. Saavedra has been selecting staff, getting his licenses in order, and getting the go-ahead from health inspectors. Following an invite only soft-launch, Paloma will host the Vidocq Society’s Bastille Day celebration on the July 14, before opening its doors to the public the next day.
