Today in community board news, DNA Info reports that CB5 isn’t getting behind Timothy Gaglio of Buddha Bar and F.illi Ponte in his attempt to bring an “upscale restaurant” (with weekend D.J.’s) to a 6,000-square-foot space at 260 Park Avenue South. 250 neighbors signed a petition against the project. And unsurprisingly, BlackBook reports that Community Board 2 unanimously voted against Matthew Maddy’s proposed ten-seat eatery in the basement of 168 Elizabeth Street. Among the reasons: The basement space is currently unlicensed, is near a church, and the proposed entrance (a hatch in the sidewalk) doesn’t comply with the Americans With Disabilities Act. As always, the State Liquor Authority has the last word.
