So here’s our new rule for the summer: When we aren’t sure what a new restaurant will be we’re going to call it a barbecue joint and wait and see. A week after Aberdeen closed in Bucktown, Lillie’s Q has been announced as the new concept. Yes, it’s another barbecue place. This is now the eighth barbecue opening we’ve heard about for the summer, but we actually do have hopes for this one. The kitchen will be run by Charlie McKenna who has worked at Avenues and TRU, and this won’t be the first venture into the barbecue world. This will actually be the second Lillie’s Q, as he opened the first location in Destin, Florida with his parents. McKenna has also done well in Memphis in May, one of the most well respected barbecue competitions in the country. The restaurant plans to open in early August.
