Over the weekend, that odd but interesting Levi’s pop-up Workshop thing (in the former Slanted Door space on Valencia) played host to an Edible Schoolyards printmaking class for local youngsters in Alice Waters’s public-school-gardening program. The tykes used a letterpress to make a collaborative book printed on recycled denim paper. Later this month, the Workshop will also be hosting a private dinner for Alice and longtime printmaking collaborator, Sylvan Brackett, who has designed special menus and many other items in the Chez Panisse archive. And on August 20, Alice and another collaborator are having a release party for a harvest calendar they’re designing together to be distributed within the Edible Schoolyards program. It’s going to be a very Alice summer in the Mission. [Grub Street]
