Just to flashback to April for a sec: chef James Syhabout — the one-time Chron Rising Star who opened Commis last year and won Oakland its first Michelin star — received his first national mag love via Food & Wine’s annual Best New Chefs honor. Well, the issue has just hit newsstands (so slow these print mags!), and whose recipe should appear on the cover (at least of the newsstand edition) but Syhabout’s. It’s a fresh and simple green tomato salad with pistachio relish, and it’s in keeping with the issue’s fresh and light summer theme. Congrats, James.
