Santa Monica’s Dakota Lounge (formerly Temple Bar) was gutted by a fire early Tuesday morning, leaving everything but the stage and sound board devastated. S.M Daily Press reports that an investigation into the cause of the blaze is currently pending, after the flames started at the Wilshire Blvd. club at around 4:30 A.M. Firefighters responding to the scene reported that the roof, which was spewing flames, collapsed, though they were able to extinguish the flames before neighboring businesses were damaged or the whole building fell apart. While a reopening is hoped for in August, co-owner Sabrina Roark, who often works behind the bar with partner Alex Fieglein, tells the local paper, “There’s no roof, my entire office is gone, my laptop looks like a chewed piece of gum, my printer, everything is gone. I literally walked up stairs to my office and said, ‘There goes my life.’”
