The honors and accolades keep stacking up for Jose Garces. The latest round of recognition hinges on the whiskeys and burgers of distinction the Iron Chef serves up at his less-than-a-year-old Village Whiskey. This week Bon Appetit’s Andrew Knowlton - who must be on some sort of Philly fixation - includes Village Whiskey on his list of “The Top 10 Best New Burger Spots.” In the article Knowlton gushes for the Village Burger and the housemade Thousand Island dressing that tops it. Meanwhile in Food & Wine, Village Whiskey tops the list of places to drink whiskey in Emily Kaiser’s piece, “Best New American Whiskeys.”
Closer to home, Philadelphia magazine’s Benjamin Wallace also extols the merits of Garces’ Village Burger in his roundup of Philly burger spots, but finds frustration with the restaurant’s waiting list and overly adorned Whiskey King.
