Tyler Florence’s first restaurant venture, Wayfare Tavern, makes its debut for dinner this evening in the former Rubicon digs, with chef de cuisine Mike Thiemman executing Tyler’s food. We had a chance to taste a couple things at a preview the other night, including a fantastic burger, some solid, lemony fried chicken, and savory Oysters Rockefeller, and it was all good. Between the crowd-pleasing menu, the billiard room, the lovely third floor private dining room that’s tailor made for rehearsal dinners, and the excellent cocktail list, we see this place going far with the FiDi crowd and likely drawing a weekend scene as well.
They’re open only for dinner this week, with reservations filling up fast, and they kick off lunch next Monday, June 28.
Next up for Tyler will be his remake of El Paseo in Mill Valley, with partner Sammy Hagar.
