Well, color us chagrined. It seems the opening of small, neighborhood Vietnamese joint My Father’s Kitchen (1655 Divisidero) slipped under our radar a couple months back. SF Weekly caught the news, and lately we’re hearing buzz that the Northern-style pho at this place, which used to be the Cool Island Café, is actually pretty good.

It’s a family run place that keeps pretty early hours (they close up at 7 p.m.), with daughter Tracy Pan managing and dad Henry Nguyen cooking up food from Haiphong, where he grew up, in North Vietnam.

See the full menu here (PDF), and also stop in for traditional Vietnamese-style drip coffee, made with Blue Bottle beans.

My Father’s Kitchen - 1655 Divisidero - 415.829.2610 - Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. & Saturday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
