Swiderski Calls it Quits After 12 Years at Buddakan

After more than a decade of heading the kitchen at Buddakan, the veritable crowned jewel of the Starr empire, Chef Scott Swiderski is hanging up his toque, Meal Ticket’s A.D. Amorosi reports. Swiderski’s Asian-infused culinary repertoire paired with Starr’s theatrical approach to dining room ambiance, proved to be a game-changer for Philly restaurants when Buddakan first opened in 1998. While likely a stretch, some credit Swiderski for launching wasabi into the local gastrosphere. The chef’s immediate plans are to spend more time with his family and it’s likely his hiatus from the kitchen and the Starr organization will not be permanent. [Meal Ticket]
