Spice Station Santa Monica Hoping For Weekend Soft-Open

Signage is up for the Santa Monica outpost of Silver Lake’s Spice Station, located next to boutique chocolate-maker Zen Bunni on Main Street. Co-owner Peter Bahlawanian tells Grub Street that a soft-opening might arrive as early as this weekend, as he and his partner/wife, Bronwen Tawse, are just waiting for final inspections to be cleared. The new location of this global gourmet spice store will not differ much from Silver Lake’s, though Bahlawanian tells us their will be a new “organics” section, as well as a line of sugars that they’re importing. And what’s new at the flagship?

On the other side of town, Feast lets us onto an expansion to a neighboring cottage in Sunset Junction that will serve as a tea-room, which means the market is currently closed while construction is completed and the offerings are expanded, with orders currently placed online or via phone. That extension is nearing completion, but it appears likely the Main Street store will open first. Spice Station’s full menus of ingredients and teas is online.
