We thought the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen event was all about lounging around lodges and staring out at the mountains. But Rick Bayless was busy competing and winning money for charity. First, he got some guy to pay $10,000 to be his sous-chef for a charity version of Top Chef’s “Quickfire.” Then he beat Top Chef Season Six winner Michael Voltaggio. As always, the whole event was broadcast on Twitter. When Tom Colicchio asked Bayless how he’d beat Voltaggio, Bayless tweeted like a ninja, “Answer: Flavor.” Voltaggio didn’t let that stand, tweeting a few hours later, “It wasn’t flavor my man cause if that was the case u know who really won.” [@gachatz]
