In the magazine this week, Adam Platt checks out David Chang’s Má Pêche in midtown. “Removed as it is from its native territory, there’s something stilted and slightly off-key about the proceedings,” Platt writes. Still, its “carefully articulated treats” include “what are undoubtedly the finest pork ribs … ever to be served in the vicinity of 56th Street and Fifth Avenue.” Robin Raisfeld and Rob Patronite grill Franks Falcinelli and Castronovo about their Frankies Spuntino Cookbook, out this week.

Astor Bake Shop, helmed by a Tribeca Grill and Nobu vet, will open in Astoria later this month, Rob and Robin report. They also tell us that a “>Williamsburg outpost of LES biergarten Loreley is coming mid-month, with a dozen beers on tap. Sugar snap peas are in season this week, and ABC Kitchen’s Dan Kluger shares his recipe for sugar-snap-pea-and-endive salad. Finally, celebrate herring in all its forms at the Russ & Daughters Herring Pairing event at Astor Center on June 15, where Wylie Dufresne will serve the fish in powder form.
