The Whisk Group, known locally thus far for purchasing the Aqua name and assets, is opening a huge new French brasserie at 101 California by early next year called Brasserie Lille. As the Scoop reports, we’re talking 200 seats indoors, upwards of 100 outdoors, and more at the bar. The design will be coming from Atlanta-based Johnson Studio, who also designed Traci Des Jardins’s Manzanita in Tahoe, and the menu will be “something like Balthazar in New York.”

What this means, of course, with Whisk snapping up all 7,600 square feet, is that there won’t be any new restaurants coming into this address from George Chen or Ryan Scott, as previously reported.

As for Aqua, Paolo teases us with news that it will be relocated sooner than we think, but more on this, um, soon.
