The documentary team that brought the tensions of the Bill Clinton campaign alive in The War Room turn their attention to the equally high-stakes world of cooking in their latest documentary, Kings of Pastry. The film center’s around Chicago’s Jacquy Pfeiffer, a founder of the French Pastry School. He and two other chefs are tracked as they prepare for and then compete in a three-day competition to win the Meilleurs Ouvriers de France, the coveted “best craftsman in France” designation. The movie won’t be released theatrically until September, but watch the trailer now and try to be patient. Elaborate sugar sculptures take time, you know.
