Former Aqua Chef to Open Plate Shop In Sausalito

Former executive sous chef at Aqua, Kim Alter, will be opening a new Sausalito restaurant in late July October called Plate Shop. As the press release tells us, the menu will feature things like Wagyu beef with mashed potatoes and garlic scapes, cucumber carpaccio with raw fish, and desserts created in collaboration with Alter’s good friend Deanie Fox, pastry chef at Manresa.

Alter has also worked at Manresa and Ubuntu, and her menu will reflect a passion for head-to-tail butchery as well as a green thumb — the restaurant will have fourteen of its own vegetable beds right outside the door.

The name Plate Shop is a play on Marin’s historic ship-building industry and the concept of plates of food. The front of the house will be in the hands of partner Matt Kahn.

Plate Shop - 39 Caledonia Street, Sausalito - opening late July - Dinner served weeknights 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and until 10:00 p.m. on weekends. Closed on Mondays
