At the Fleas: Brooklyn Flea Gets Milkshakes, Hester Street Fair Adds Greenmarket

The latest from the fleas: Brooklyn Flea brings word that the Milk Truck is serving milkshakes alongside its grilled cheeses, and the Hester Street Fair tells us that the Greenmarket at Hester Street Fair launches June 13. The farmers’ market will be a continuation of the Greenmarket previously located on Grand Street, with food demos from Broadway East (the first demo, on fresh strawberries, occurs this Sunday afternoon). Incidentally, we hear that restaurant will soon start getting corn, cucumbers, tomatoes, rhubarb, peas, beets, potatoes, beans, spinach, cauliflower, herbs and the like from the new Broadway East Farm in Bernardsville, New Jersey.

Also, the venue’s subterranean lounge, BEast, was mentioned in yesterday’s Times piece about art parties. Only problem, as David Hershkovits of Paper points out, is that the author of the piece confuses artist Ryan McGinley, who throws parties there, with artist Ryan McGinness. Oops! If you want to keep these two straight, McGinley’s New York Diet might be a good start.
