Yet Another Steakhouse Eyes the Waterfront

Smith & Wollensky is considering opening an outpost of lower-priced spin-off Wollensky’s Grill on Atlantic Wharf, Mayor Menino tells the Globe. For those of you following along at home, this is the second major piece of news about a steakhouse chain opening on the waterfront in as many days: yesterday, we reported that Del Frisco’s has signed a lease along the Harbor. The neighborhood already boasts a Morton’s, The Steakhouse.

The whole thing is reminiscent of the heady pre-crash days of 2007, when KO Prime, Mooo…., and the late Boston Public all opened within a few months of each other. Is 2007 just now coming to the Harbor? Will we see a crop of fro-yo spots and cupcakeries pop up in the neighborhood in 2013?
