Stephen Starr is moving ahead with a gastropub on 18th and Sansom, but he still may bring in a partner from New York. “We are talking to Ken Friedman regarding a partnership,” Starr tells Grub Street. “That negotiation hasn’t been finished.”

The unnamed gastropub will have two stories, multiple rooms and feature a menu much like Spotted Pig’s, but with more options, Starr says. Shawn Hausman, who led the design team for Starr’s El Rey, Parc and Continental Mid-town, will likely design the space. “If Friedman is a partner in it, he will work with Shawn, because he has tons of found objects gathered from all throughout England and Ireland,” Starr says.

No chef has been named yet, but should the Friedman partnership work out, Spotted Pig’s April Bloomfield will be executive chef, according to Starr.
