After months of articles and petitions, it looks like food trucks with fully functioning kitchens may be one step closer to hitting the streets. On June 9, Ald. Scott Waguespack will submit an ordinance to fix many of the legal hurdles that block food truck vendors from working in Chicago. The vote will then go to the health and licensing committees, and finally on to a vote in a full council meeting. Waguespack claimed that the crusade led by Phillip Foss and Matt Maroni helped him realize the positive impacts of food trucks in the city. Talking to the Sun-Times he said that food trucks were “a good job creator and just a good way to showcase a lot of talent that might not otherwise be able to afford a whole restaurant build out.” [Sun-Times]
