It’s been almost a year since we first reported the terrible news that T.G.I. Friday’s would open in Times Union Square. We did not pray hard enough: The restaurant is hiring. “Now interviewing for waitstaff and cooks for new themed restaurant in Union Square,” says a May 6 Craigslist ad. “Offering great opportunity that includes competitive wages, flexible scheduling and advancement opportunities.” The ad doesn’t specify Friday’s, but the 34 Union Square East address matches Zen Palate’s former address. (BYO flair.) Parent company the Riese Organization wouldn’t confirm an opening date for us, but we expect to order the Jack Daniels appetizer sampler sometime this summer.
